ESSC 1000  Earth and Space Sciences Convocation  (0-0-0)  
Students in this course will be introduced to the essential skills and expectations for academic success and professional pursuits in the fields of earth and space science (ESS). Students will learn about academic success strategies and career planning by interfacing with a variety of faculty, ESS upperclassmen, alumni, and professionals in an informal setting. In addition, students will learn about essential tools and skills important to all students in the program. This 0-credit hour course meets for 1-hour each week.

ESSC 4796  Senior Capstone  (1-0-1)  
This senior-level class is focused on preparing ESS students for post-baccalaureate academic and professional pursuits. The course is designed to allow students the opportunity to hone their critical thinking skills, advance their capacity to solve problems, and improve their ability to communicate effectively by synthesizing previous coursework in the diverse fields of earth and space science. Students will be assessed based on preparation of an academic portfolio and/or a capstone exam.
